Topic: Multilingualism and Language Teaching
The speech will deal with the current features of multilingualism and its latest development in the west. In addition, the speaker will talk about the situation of language provision in the UK and its new trends in this field.

Speaker: Mr Nick Byrne from London School of Economics and Political Science
Mr. Nick Byrne is the UK director of Confucius Institute for Business London, and the director of the Language Centre at London School of Economics and Political Science since 1999.
He is a member of the Higher Education Academy and a National Teaching Fellow; and is also on the Executive Boards of the following language associations - AULC, SCHML and UCML; and is Deputy Secretary of CERCLES - the European Confederation of Language Centres.
His publications have appeared in the THES, Linguist, CILT Higher and he has given papers at a range of language conferences. He is currently leading a three-year project for the DfES on language learning, testing and employability. |
