The recent data from the BICEP2 experiment at the South Pole provide the first evidence for quantum gravitational radiation, and are compatible qualitatively with the expectations of cosmological inflation. However, the BICEP2 data are in tension with many specific models of inflation and with previous data from the Planck satellite. This talk will discuss possibilities for Planck- and BICEP2-compatible models, notably the Starobinsky model, Higgs inflation and scenarios based on supersymmetry and supergravity. |
