主讲人简介:
Prof. David Williams is currently the department head of Botany at the Univeristy of Wyoming, USA. He received his BS degree at the University of Texas in 1985 and his MS at Texas A&M University in 1988. He received his Ph.D degree in Botany at the Washington State University. His resesarch focuses on investigating plant-environment interactions in terrestrial environments of the world with particular focus on savannas, grasslands and deserts. His group research centers on the role of plants in water, carbon and nitrogen cycle processes from cellular to ecosystem scales, and from daily to inter-annual timescales. Major research questions address the potential responses of water-limited ecosystems to changes in climate, atmospheric chemistry and vegetation composition.
Prof. Williams and his group apply stable isotopes in combination with controlled experiments to understand how plants and terrestrial ecosystems respond to climate change. He has published more than 100 SCI papers in academic journals such as Nature, PNAS, Ecology, Global Change Biology, etc. His seminar will report his group’s most recent progresses in Global Change Ecology. |
