主讲人简介:
Dr. Xiao's research interests include remote sensing, terrestrial carbon cycle, ecological modeling, vegetation dynamics, land cover/land use change, disturbances, and human-environment interactions. He is particularly interested in understanding the impacts of climate variability and change, land cover/land use change, and disturbances on terrestrial carbon cycling as well as their feedbacks to the climate over various spatial and temporal scales. He combines remote sensing, ecological modeling, field measurements (e.g., eddy covariance measurements), model-data fusion, and statistical analysis to address these science issues.
讲座简介:
The eddy covariance (EC) technique provides continuous measurements of ecosystem-level carbon, water, and energy exchange at half-hourly, daily, monthly, annual, and decadal time scales. The number of EC flux sites has been rapidly growing since the early 1990s. EC flux observations are revolutionizing biogeochemical studies. This seminar will introduce some recent applications of EC flux observations in biogeochemical studies: (1) cross-site synthesis leading to new ecological findings; (2) modeling efforts assimilating EC flux data for model improvement; (3) uncertainty analysis providing uncertainty bounds to carbon, water, and nitrogen fluxes. The research examples will be mainly drawn from the speaker’s research group. |
