W.J.T.米切尔（W.J.T. Mitchell）是美国芝加哥大学盖罗德·多奈利英文和艺术史杰出教授（Gaylord Donnelley Distinguished Service Professor of English and Art History）和国际文学理论和文化研究界的顶级学术刊物《批评探索》(Critical Inquiry)主编。作为当代西方著名文学理论家、艺术批评家和图像理论的代表人物，米切尔著述甚丰，主要著作包括：Blake's Composite Art (Princeton, 1977), Iconology (Chicago, 1986), Picture Theory (Chicago, 1994), The Last Dinosaur Book (Chicago, 1998), What Do Pictures Want (2005) 等。他还出版了多部编著，包括：The Language of Images (1980), On Narrative (1981), The Politics of Interpretation (1983), Against Theory (1985), Art and the Public Sphere (1993), and Landscape and Power (1994)，此外还在Critical Inquiry, New Literary History, Poetics Today, World Literature Today, Artforum, Representations, Public Culture, PMLA, Journal of Aesthetic Education, Neohelicon学术期刊上发表论文100多篇，他的不少著作已被译成多种文字，包括中文，有着广泛的国际性影响。 |
