  简介:
讲座简介:
I discuss evidences suggesting that solar activity affects the terrestrial climate. I pay particular attention to claims, made by different researchers, that global warming is due to an increase in solar activity and not to anthropogenic causes like, mainly, the greenhouse effect. I conclude that, although there are evidences suggesting that solar activity affects the climate at Earth, this is not the main cause of global warming. I also present studies linking solar activity with the streamflow of rivers in South America, in particular the Paraná, one of the mightiest rivers of the world.
主讲人简介:
Pablo Mauas obtained his PhD with a fellowship in the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA). After that, he was a post-doctoral fellow first at the CfA and afterwards at the Observatory of Arcetri, in Florence, Italy. Back in Argentina, he is now a Senior Researcher in The National Council of Scientific Research, and he is the head of the Group of Stellar Activity, Extrasolar Planets and Astrobiology of the Institute of Astronomy in Buenos Aires. He is also the head of the Hkα Project, a long term project to spectroscopically study stellar activity in more than 150 stars which he started in 1999. He also leads the installation of a set of small telescopes in the Argentinian Andes to study Extrasolar Planets.
