The existence of gravitational wave was predicted by A. Einstein in his general theory of relativity almost 100 years ago, but it has not yet been directly detected. In Japan a gravitational wave detector KAGRA is being built to aim at detection of gravitational waves. In this talk the design, objectives, current status, and schedule of KAGRA will be presented.
