【主讲人简介】
Dr. Mishima became President of Tokyo Institute of Technology on October 1, 2012.
He started his academic career in 1981 as an assistant professor at the Precision and Intelligence Laboratory of Tokyo Institute of Technology (hereafter Tokyo Tech), and was promoted to associate professor in 1989. He became a full professor of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering of Tokyo Tech in 1997.
His major research field was the design of high temperature structural materials. He has received many awards for his outstanding research achievements from academic societies including the Japan Institute of Metals, the Iron and Steel Institute of Japan, the Japan Society for Heat Treatment, and ASM International.
Dr. Mishima earned his bachelor and master degrees from Tokyo Tech and earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
【演讲内容简介】
Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) is striving to become “one of the world’s top ten research universities by 2030” and is implementing ambitious education reforms to realize this goal. These reforms are based on the establishment of a world-class education system, innovation in learning, and internationalization. Breaking from traditional, rigid frameworks, a new system and curricula are being introduced to increase students’ access to global opportunities and inspire them to think independently on how to best develop their professional skills and contribute to society.
Another driving force in their efforts is the Top Global University Project, launched this year by the Japanese government. Tokyo Tech was selected as one of the top ten university awardees and, through the project, will carry out decisive administrative reforms for the implementation of world-class education and research systems.
Recent highlights in their research activities are presented herein, with particular emphasis on new types of research organizations designed to stimulate scientific and technological innovation. Through ambitious research, Tokyo Tech enhances its strengths in science and technology to become a global hub, attracting top researchers and industry links from around world.
Tsinghua University and Tokyo Tech have enjoyed a long, fruitful relationship through many collaborative programs and consortiums. Tokyo Tech hopes to deepen this relationship through further promotion of faculty and student exchanges.
【讲堂简介】
“清华海外名师讲堂”是汇集我校高端国际交流资源，面向广大同学开办的高层次、前沿性、成系列的海外人士演讲，设有“全球领导力”和“前沿科技”两大系列。截至2014年12月，已成功举办了160多讲。演讲人汇集诺贝尔奖得主、著名学者、外国政要、知名大学校长、跨国企业高管等名家名人。为广大同学提供了拓展国际视野和学术视野，提升外语水平和交流能力的宝贵资源。
“清华海外名师讲堂”面向全校学生开放，一般每年开设20-30讲，课程采用学生IC卡记录考勤。凡在读期间累计听讲8次并递交总结报告者，可获得1个学分（相关事宜请联系62796650）。
