作家介绍:
Maxine Beneba Clarke is a renowned spoken word performer whose work has been delivered on stages and airways and at festivals across Australia. Her poetry and commentary has been widely published and she is the author of two poetry collections. Her collection of short stories, Foreign Soil shows all sides of humanity, with characters such a desperate asylum seeker pacing Sydney's notorious Villawood detention centre; a seven-year-old Sudanese boy finding solace in a patchwork bike; an enraged black militant on the warpath through the rebel squats of 1960s Brixton; and a young woman departing rural Jamaica in search of her destiny. She is the recipient of the 2014 Hazel Rowley fellowship for her forthcoming memoir The Hate Race, about growing up black in white, middle class Australia.
Jennifer Mills is the author of the novels Gone and The Diamond Anchor and the short story collection The Rest is Weight, which was shortlisted for the Queensland Literary Awards and long listed for the 2013 Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award. Her writing explores themes of place, genre and politics and she is currently working on a novel, Dyschronia, tackling climate change and the perception of time. Jennifer is the fiction editor at Overland literary journal and now lives in Beijing.
