报告人简介: Dr. Kevin Huang is currently a full professor of Mechanical Engineering Department and a core faculty member of SmartState Center for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells at the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining University of South Carolina, he worked as a senior, principal and fellow engineer from 2000 to 2009 in Stationary Fuel Cell Division of Siemens Energy Corporation in Pittsburgh. From 1995 to 2000, he conducted his postdoctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin after receiving his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from University of Science and Technology Beijing. His current research focuses on electrochemical materials science and engineering including solid oxide fuel cells, rechargeable batteries, gas separation membranes and solid state electrochemistry fundamentals.
报告内容简介:A sustainable energy future depends upon efficient conversion of fossil and renewable resources into useful chemicals and electricity and subsequent storage of surplus chemicals/electricity for later use. Electrochemical approach is proven so far the most efficient method for energy conversion and storage. Classical examples of electrochemical conversion include conversion of chemical fuels into electricity through fuel cells, generation of hydrogen and syngas through electrolyzers, electricity storage through rechargeable batteries, and production of value-added chemicals from natural gas through mixed conducting ceramic membranes. In this presentation, the presenter reviews recent progress made in his group in the areas of solid oxide fuel cells, rechargeable batteries and gas separation membranes. Emphasis will be particularly given to the development of stable nanostructured intermediate-temperature SOFC cathodes, a new type of metal-air redox battery and electrochemical carbon capture membranes.

报告人简介: Prof. Søren Linderoth is professor in functional ceramics for energy purposes at Department of Energy Conversion and Storage (DTU Energy). He is also the head of DTU Energy, where about 240 persons are involved in R&D of sustainable energy technologies, such as fuel cells, electrolysis, solar cells, batteries, superconductivity, thermoelectric generators, caloric cooling and heat pumps, and flue gas purification. Prof. Linderoth has authored more than 220 scientific papers, and is the (co-)inventor of more than 25 patents.
报告内容简介:The Danish Parliament has decided, that in Denmark 50% of all electricity by 2020 should be from renewables (wind), in 2035 all electricity and heat/cooling should be based on fossil-free energy, i.e. without use of coal, oil or natural gas, and in 2050 also the transport should be fossil-free.  All energy supply should then primarily be from wind, solar and biomass. As mot renewable energy sources are strongly fluctuating, this puts new requirements to the energy supply system. New, improved energy technologies are needed to make this a possible and sustainable transition. Electrolysis, integration with biomass, fuel cells, heat pumps etc are seen to play important rôles. Some ongoing efforts on the development of energy technologies will be discussed.
