  简介:
The classic textbook by Ashcroft and Mermin, named Solid State Physics, has dominated education of graduate students in the field of condensed matter physics since its publication in 1976. Tremendous progress has been made in our field over the past 40 years, and a modern textbook replacing this aging classic is in urgent need. In this informal discussion I will report our on-going attempt to meet this need, and seek comments and advices from the audience on our work.
 
报告人简介:
    Kun Yang got his Ph.D. in the condensed matter theory from the Indiana University in1994. Three years later he worked as a postdoc at Princeton University and two years later became Sherman Fairchild's senior research fellow at California Institute of Technology. He joined the faculty of Florida State University in 1999 and since then dedicated his life to study unconventional superconductors and quantum magnetism.
