About the speaker: Professor Altshuler did his Ph.D. and early career in Leningrad, former Soviet Union. In 1990 he joined MIT as a professor. From 1994 to 2009 he had been a fellow of NEC Laboratories America. From 1996 to 2005 he had been a Professor of Physics in Princeton University. Since 2005he has been a Professor of Physics in Columbia University. Professor Altshuler did many groundbreaking works in different fields, including interacting disordered systems, mesoscopic physics, quantum chaos, many-body localization, etc.. He is a recipient of numerous distinguished honors among of which are: Hewlett-Packard Europhysics Prize (Agilent Prize), Oliver Buckley Prize of American Physical Society and member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences.
