FCEV Development at Nissan
Brief introduction:
Nissan has been making great efforts to develop our new fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), one of the promising zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) for future, and polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) stacks. Cost reduction is the primary concern associated with commercialization of FCEVs. Downsizing of the stacks, reducing the Pt loading in membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs), and durability improvement are essential to achieve cost reduction. To consider FCEV expansion period, material cost reduction of MEA is of vital importance without sacrificing its performance and durability.
In this presentation, challenges and expectation on MEA material development for FCEV expansion period will be described with our recent material research activities.
