  简介:
Abstract(报告摘要):
Optical frequency comb can be used as a tool for high-precision and versatile control of properties of light wave as an “optical synthesizer”. It provides powerful tools not only in frequency metrology as “ultraprecise frequency ruler” but also in broad area since light wave can be used to its full extent with an extremely wide dynamic range. In this lecture, after introducing the development of fiber-based frequency combs, various metrology applications are presented including dual-comb spectroscopy of gas and solid, high-accuracy and long distance measurement with self-correction of air refractive index, and one-shot 3D imaging. By precisely controlling the frequency and phase of the combs, metrology applications with ultra-high accuracy together with ultra-wide dynamic range and versatile controllability are realized.

Biography(报告人简介):
Kaoru Minoshima is a Professor at the University of Electro-Communications (UEC), Tokyo, Japan, since 2013. She received her Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tokyo in 1993, and joined the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). She became a senior scientist (1997), a group leader (2007), and the Bureau Manager at the Innovation School (2011-2013). Her areas of research are ultrafast optical science and technology and their application to optical metrology, particularly time-resolved imaging, generation of frequency combs, and precision metrology using frequency combs.

She received the Prize for Science and Technology given by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan, in 2008, and the first Women Scientists Award from the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP) in 2010. Prof. Minoshima has served on many technical and organizing committees for international and domestic conferences including the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO) Technical Subcommittee Chair (2004-2005), where she built a new subcommittee for Optical Metrology, and as Subcommittee member (2006-2008), Program Co-Chair (2009), and General Co-Chair (2011). Prof. Minoshima is a member of the Science Council of Japan (2011-present), and a Fellow of the JSAP and OSA.
