简介：In the context of collaborations between Tsinghua University (China) and Universidad Politécnica of Madrid (UPM) (Spain) funded by the European Union under the Marie Curie Network on Biomass Energy and Sustainability, this presentation aims to provide a summary of the regulatory and commercial situation in the use of biomass energy in the European Union. This will be followed by a review of research projects carried out at UPM focusing primarily on three areas: i) thermochemical conversion of biomass, ii) hybridizing solar power generation with biomass, and iii) sustainability analysis of energy systems.

报告人介绍：Prof. Guillermo San Miguel is a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). He graduated in Chemistry from Universidad of Madrid (UCM), obtained his M.Sc. in Environmental Impact Assessment from University of Wales (United Kingdom) and a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Imperial College of London (United Kingdom). His research activities focus on biomass energy, thermal processes and sustainability analysis of energy systems. He is currently the leader of the Biomass Energy and Environmental Analysis (http://eabiolab.industriales.upm.es) research group, UPM leader of European Project on Development of hybrid technologies for the integration of biomass and solar energy and General Coordinator of the Marie Curie network on biomass energy and sustainability. Author of over 50 research articles.
