  简介:

简介:This talk will start with an observation that many systems of partial differential equations describing various different irreversible phenomena share a common structural property (called conservation-dissipation principle II, where conservation and dissipation corresponds respectively to the first and second laws of thermodynamics). This property incorporates a nonlinear version of the celebrated Onsager reciprocal relation and can be regarded as a stability criterion for non-equilibrium thermodynamics. Then I will introduce some applications of the stability criterion. In particular, I will present our recently developed conservation–dissipation formalism (CDF) of irreversible thermodynamics and show how to use the property to derive the multi-component diffusion laws uniquely.

报告人介绍:Prof. Wen-An YONG is an applied mathematician. He received his B.S. degree from the Sun Yat-Sen University in 1984, his M.S. degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1987, and his Dr. rer. nat. (1992) and Habilitation (2005) both from the University of Heidelberg (Germany). Since the end of 2005 he has worked at the Tsinghua University. His research interests cover applied partial differential equations and numerical methods. In recent years, his research focuses mainly on stability criteria for non-equilibrium thermodynamics, with applications to viscoelastic fluid flows, chemical kinetics, chemical engineering, geophysics, kinetic theory, the lattice Boltzmann method, and so on. He is a member of the international Scientific Advisory Board for the coming 14th Joint European Thermodynamics Conference.
