Abstract:
OLED is being recognized as the display technology not only for the small mobile application but also for large size TV and flexible display. However, there are still some debates whether it can completely replace the LCD TV, and how and when the QD display will play a significant role in display industry. This talk will address the key challenges of OLED manufacturing and present the future direction of OLED technology development to position itself as truly the disruptive technology.

Biography:
Ho Kyoon(H.K.) Chung is currently Distinguished Chair Professor of SungkyunkwanUniversity. Before joining the academia, Dr. Chung led the R&D for Active Matrix OLED (AMOLED) since 2000 as Director and later as Executive Vice President and the Head of Samsung SDI Corporate R&D Center from 2006 to 2008. He is recognized as world leader in bringing the AMOLED technology into the commercial market and has received numerous awards from the Korean government as well as Samsung. More recently, he was the recipient of Karl Ferdinand Braun Prize from the Society for Information Display (SID) in 2016 for his contribution to the AMOLED commercialization.. Prior experience includes Managing Director of Memory Product Engineering and Manufacturing Technology Center at Samsung Electronics, Semiconductor Business from 1988 to 1999.
