报告摘要:In this talk I will introduce the John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science and discuss its current and future projects, goals and ambitions. The presentation will discuss the applications of advanced EM concepts for particle accelerators (including diagnostics and compact energy recovery LINACs) and next generation of compact sources of coherent radiation. The application of surface periodic structures with tailored dispersive properties for longitudinal beam diagnostics and generation of coherent high-power (up to kW level) THz radiation will be presented. I will also discuss a new concept of asymmetric energy recovery LINACs which will be capable of generating and utilising electron beams of the average current above 1A as well as progress in development of the single shot electron bunch diagnostics based on spectral analysis of coherent Smith Purcell radiation.
报告人简介:Ivan V. Konoplev is a Professor of Accelerator Science, Department of Physics, University of Oxford, UK. Ivan’s research career started at the Institute of Applied Physics Russian Academy of Science in Nizhny Novgorod, and it is the first time to observe the cyclotron superradiance phenomenon. In 2008 he led the theoretical development of a new pulse compression technique which is sponsored by the UK government under an Information Technology and Communication grant. In October 2011, he was appointed to a University Lectureship in Accelerator Science to work in Oxford and with ASTeC on common research programs. Their work was awarded the highest possible grade (‘Excellent’) at the 2012 and 2013 international annual reviews (SAREC) of experiments performed at the FACET beam-line at SLAC (USA). In 2015 he was awarded STFC PRD grant to work on first stage of the development of single shot femtosecond bunch profile monitor i.e. In 2013 he become involved in UH-FLUX project to develop high intensity sources of coherent THz and X-ray radiation based on compact energy recovery superconducting (niobium) linear accelerator and in 2014 he became PI of the project. Together with the University of Strathclyde he is also exploring new research areas of beam dynamics which is controlled by self-induced wake-field. To drive the research activities mentioned above he have organised the International Network dedicated to advance generation of coherent THz and X-ray radiation.
