报告摘要:Experiments using the high intensity 20 GeV electron and positron beams in the FACET Facility at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory have produced a number of exceptional results. High efficiency acceleration of electrons, regimes for high-gradient acceleration of positrons and the generation of high-brightness beams through injection mechanisms will be discussed. GeV/m beam driven wakefields have also been measured in dielectric wakefield accelerator structures. For five years FACET operated as a National User Facility delivering unique beams to a diverse community of users. These exciting experiments have been mounted by a diverse group of accelerator, laser, and plasma researchers from national laboratories and universities. This presentation will review the history of these experiments, the current program at FACET and plans for the future at FACET-II.
 
报告人简介:Mark Hogan is a Senior Staff Scientist and the Plasma Group Leader in the FACET Division at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. He earned his Ph.D. in physics from UCLA in 1998 working for Claudio Pellegrini. He worked on Self Amplified Spontaneous Emission free electron laser experiments at UCLA and Los Alamos National Laboratory. He joined SLAC as a postdoc in 1998 to work on beam driven plasma wakefield accelerator experiment at the Final Focus Test Beam facility. He joined the SLAC staff in 2000 and was the spokesperson for the follow on plasma wakefield experiments E-162/E-164/E-167. He is currently in charge of the science program for the FACET National User Facility and the follow-on facility FACET-II. He leads the SLAC program to experimentally develop concepts for plasma wakefield accelerator based linear colliders and free electron lasers.
           

                         Vitaly earned B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from the Novosibirsk State University, Ph.D. in Accelerator Physics from the Budker Institute for Nuclear Physics. Vitaly Yakimenko joint Brookhaven National Laboratory in 1996 as a Post Doc, and became ATF User Facility Director in 2006. He joint SLAC as FACET National User Facility Director in 2012 and currently is leading the FACET-II project. Vitaly is a Fellow of American Physics Society and a recipient of the IEEE Particle Accelerator Science and Technology Award. He served in various committees and review panels. He is the author or co-author of over many publications in referred journals and conference proceedings, including two recent papers from FACET on acceleration of electrons and positrons in plasma.
