摘要:According to the current LCDM concordance cosmology, structures form hierarchically: i.e., smaller structures (dark matter halos) form earlier and can grow via the accretion and merging processes. The growth histories and spatial distributions of these dark matter halos play an important role in our understanding of the physical properties of the Universe. However, these dark matter halos are in general not directly observable. Thus, a key task in the cosmological studies is to establish a reliable link between invisible dark matter halos and visible galaxies. Such a link also sets the backbone of our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. In this talk, I will present some of our recent probes in this field.
报告人简介:Xiaohu Yang is currently a distinguished professor in the Department of Astronomy, SJTU. He got his Ph.D. degree in August 2002 from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). After that, he became a lecturer in USTC. In September 2003, he moved to the University of Massachusetts as a Postdoc. Then in September 2005, Xiaohu moved back to the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory as a professor. During the years 2006-2011, he was the group leader of the partner group between MPA and SHAO. In Dec. 2012, Xiaohu joined SJTU as a distinguished professor. So far, Xiaohu has published more than 90 papers, which received more than 6000 citations. |
