Deep learning has emerged as the key technology behind the recent success in a number of domains, such as image classification, speech recognition,  natural language processing, Go playing, self-driving etc. In the first part of this lecture, I will briefly introduce the idea, development, and challenges of deep learning. In the second part, I will present some popular deep learning architectures, such as convolution nets, and recurrent nets (including long short term memory).
