报告题目:Advancing the precision of proton-proton and proton-nucleus collision studies with A Fixed-Target ExpeRiment at the LHC (AFTER@LHC) I will discuss the physics opportunities which are offered by a next generation and multi-purpose fixed-target experiment exploiting the LHC beams. The multi-TeV LHC proton beam allows for the most energetic fixed-target experiment ever performed, to study proton-proton, proton-deuteron and proton-nucleus collisions at √(s_NN ) ~ 115 GeV. AFTER@LHC -- for A Fixed-Target ExperRiment -- bears on a broad physics programme, covering the large-x frontier for particle and astroparticle physics, spin and heavy-ion physics, which would greatly complement those of collider experiments, in particular RHIC and the projects of electron-ion colliders. 报告人简介: Dr J.P. Lansberg is a CNRS researcher at IPN Orsay – Paris-Saclay University. After postdocs at Ecole Polytechnique, Heidelberg and Stanford, he has been hired by CNRS in 2010. He is an expert in the phenomenology of QCD, e.g. the production of quarkonia. During his postdoc in Stanford, he started to discuss with S.J. Brodsky (SLAC) and F. Fleuret (LLR) the opportunity of proposing a fixed-target experiment on the LHC beams. He has delivered more than 30 oral communications on this project since 2010. He recently edited a special issue in "Advances in High Energy Physics" on the Physics at a fixed-target experiment with the LHC beams. He is the French PI of a Franco-Chinese collaborative effort, QUARKONIUM4AFTER, and is the contact person of the AFTER@LHC study group and its representative in the CERN "Physics Beyond Colliders" working group. 第246期“论坛”主请人联系方式: 杨振伟 13651149023 yangzhw@tsinghua.edu.cn
