报告摘要:
Recent disasters across the world have highlighted the fragility of the built environment to a range of human-induced threats and natural hazards, including those that may be influenced by climate change. Moreover, the rapid pace of urbanisation has increased concerns about the resilience of cities in light of disaster risks including those influenced by climate change; with contemporary discussions considering how physical/protective interventions can be integrated into the built environment or, indeed, what types of interventions are most effective.
In this lecture, Dr Ksenia Chmutina will discuss the above-mentioned issues by highlighting the lack of integration between resilience and sustainability in built environment. She will highlight how research can be used to make resilience and sustainability ideas more integrated into - thus more effective for – the built environment.
报告人简介:

Dr Ksenia Chmutina is a Lecturer in Sustainable and Resilient Urbanism at the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering at Loughborough University, UK. Her main research interest is in synergies and tensions of resilience and sustainability in the built environment, including holistic approach to enhancing resilience to natural and human-induced threats, and a better understanding of the systemic implications of sustainability and resilience under the pressures of urbanisation and climate change. Her other research interests include transdisciplinary integration of pre-emptive hazard mitigation strategies into decision making process of construction stakeholders, and disaster risk management of cultural heritage. Ksenia uses her work to draw attention to the fact that disasters are not natural. Her research mainly comprises location-based case studies and systemic policy analysis; it brings together quantitative and qualitative research to generate transdiciplinary understanding in the areas of sustainability, resilience, and policy in the context of built environment, and employs various data analysis techniques. A well-documented track record of publications and external activities provide testament to the internationally recognised quality of her work. She has conducted her research in the UK, India, Indonesia, Japan, Nepal, the Caribbean, and across Europe. Ksenia is a co-author of a textbook ‘Disaster Risk Reduction for the Built Environment’ (Wiley, 2017).
