报告摘要:
WIMS is a deterministic code for reactor physics analyses. This presentation will give a broad overview of the capabilities of the WIMS code, including methods for cross-section resonance shielding, flux spectrum condensation, flux solution, and depletion. It will consider the two modes of WIMS use, either as a lattice code to generate neutron constants for use with a whole core analysis code, or as a standalone code for the analysis of whole core problems for small reactor types. The latest WIMS developments allow its use for multi-physics applications including a sub-channel thermal hydraulics capability (ARTHUR), and the ability to link with other thermal hydraulics, fuel performance and whole plant analysis codes. Application examples will be presented demonstrating the use of WIMS with the UK whole core analysis code PANTHER for large commercial LWR's, and WIMS only for the analysis of Small Modular LWR's, Sodium Cooled Fast Reactor, High Temperature Reactor, and Molten Salt Reactor systems. The use of WIMS and PANTHER coupled with the ANSWERS radiation shielding code MCBEND will also be presented.

报告人简介:
Dr. Simon Richards joined the ANSWERS Software Service in June 2008. He is a computational physicist and has been the lead developer and Design Authority for the MONK code since 2013. Dr. Richards was awarded his B.Sc. in Physics from Imperial College London in 1991, his M.Phil. in Fusion Plasma Physics from Imperial College in 1995, his Ph.D. from the University of Southampton in 2003 and a postgraduate certificate in Nuclear Science and Engineering from the University of Manchester in 2009. His research expertise is in the field of Monte Carlo neutron transport, nuclear criticality and reactor physics. He is a Chartered Physicist and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics.
