I will review the sciences with small-scale and large-scale clustering of galaxies. The topic ranges from galactic satellite systems and finger-of-god of galaxy clusters to large-scale clustering anisotropy and large-scale structures in the universe. This will show how the growing galaxy redshift data can be used to constrain cosmological models and galaxy formation theories.

In particular, a new method for measuring the cosmological parameters governing the expansion history of the universe will be introduced. The method uses the Alcock-Paczynski test applied to the overall shape of the galaxy two-point correlation function along and across the line-of-sight. We applied this method to simulated data and also to a recent galaxy survey data to obtain an impressive constraint on the dark energy equation of state and matter density parameter Ωm.

BIO
Changbom Park is a Professor at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS). He is Chair of the School of Physics (since 2016) and Director of the Quantum Universe Center (since 2017) of KIAS, and also a full member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (since 2017). Changbom obtained his PhD in Astrophysics in 1991 from Department of Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University. He hold a Research Fellow at Caltech (1990-1992), and worked at the Department of Astronomy of Seoul National University (SNU) as an Asistant Professor (1992-1996), Associated Professor (1996-2002) and Full Professor (2002-2003). Since 2003 he has been a Professor at KIAS. Changbom's research fields include broad topics in cosmology and extra-galactic astronomy, basing on a combination of theoretical research, observation and data analyses, and numerical simulations. His main research topics include large-scale structure in the Universe, Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation, galaxy formation and properties of galaxies and computational astrophysics, as well as instrumentation on integral field unit and multi-object spectroscopy. He is also interested in historical astronomy (Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Mayan). He was awarded the Distinguished Scholar Award by the Korean Astronomical Society and Award for Creation of Knowledge by the Ministry of Education and Science of Republic of Korea.
