报告摘要:

Researchers at IHEP have conceived a new concept of MCP-PMT several years ago. The small MCP units replace the bulky Dynode chain in the large PMTs. In addition the transmission and reflection photocathode in the same glass bulb to enhance the efficiency of photoelectron conversion. After three years R&D, a number of 8 inch prototypes were produced in 2013. The 20 inch prototypes were followed in 2014, and its’ performance were improving a lot in 2015. This type of PMT has large sensitive area, high QE, and large P/V for good single photoelectron detection. Compensating the PMT performances, cost, radioactivity, the JUNO ordered 15000 pic 20-inch MCP-PMT from the NNVT in Dec.2015. The MCP-PMT collaboration group finished to build the mass production line in Nanjing, and finished the batch test system in the same place in 2016. From 2017 to 2019, all the 20-inch PMTs will be produced and tested one by one in NNVT for JUNO. This presentation will talk about the R&D, the mass production and batch test result of the 9K pieces of MCP-PMT prototypes for JUNO, and also the improvement design for the LHAASO and HyperK.


报告人简介:

In 2004, he enrolled in the IHEP to pursue a Ph.D. in particle physics experiment, and participated in the construction of the Beijing Spectrometer (BESIII), a major upgrade project for the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. In 2009, he stayed in post-doctoral work, focusing on nuclear electronics and nuclear detectors (as a post doctor of engineering). As On-Call Expert, he was responsible for the operation and maintenance of MUC and TOF detectors for many years. In 2011, he joint IHEP, working on the development of new type of photomultiplier tubes (MCP-PMT) for the next generation neutrino experiment (JUNO). He is a member of BESIII and JUNO international collaboration group and has contributed and signed in more than 250 physics articles.

While undertaking the urgent engineering tasks, he conducts high-quality research work and actively participates in the frontline of scientific research. He has presided over 1 post-doctoral natural fund (2009-2010), 3 General Projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China (2012-2015, 2015-2018, 2017-2020), 1 NSFC-RFBR project of National Natural Science Foundation of China(2016-2017), and 1 sub-project of the key special science and equipment development of the Ministry of Science and Technology (2016-2018). As a core member, he participated in major scientific projects such as the Strategic Priority Research Program (2013-2019). He was also an invited reviewer of China National Natural Science Foundation Project, Portuguese Natural Fund Project, and Shanxi Natural Science Foundation Project.

He published more than 30 scientific papers as the first/corresponding author or, and more than 30 articles as co-authors. He has participated in various international conferences, workshop and seminar to introduce the R&D of 20 inch MCP-PMT in China more than 60 times. He is also a reviewer for multiple SCI/EI journals of detectors and electronics. He has obtained 4 international invention patents (second inventor), 7 Chinese invention patents (4 first inventors), and applied to publish more than 20 Chinese invention patents (10 first inventors).
