  简介:

Abstract:

Modern technology enables the aero engines become more efficient and more reliable. Majority of technical issues & problems that modern aero engine encountered in the past two decades were resulted of coupling and interaction of synthesis. System dynamic characteristics of aero engine during transient and off design operations are beyond current domain knowledge, and too sophisticated to be handled by using single disciplinary approach. Compatibility of the integrated engine system becomes the cutting-edge technology of modern aero engine.

It is an art of balancing the cross functional and multi-disciplinary issue to meet design goals and all requirements from customer and regulation sides as well. This presentation is to share some ongoing thoughts and studies of “Synthetic Complexity” & “Outlier”, including:

i) Synthesis and Complexity; ii) Asymmetry & Uncertainty; iii) Coupling & Interaction;

iv) Synthesis Effect & Dynamic Disorder; v) Convergence & Consilience.

Biograph:

Prof. Wang earned his Ph.D. degree in Engineering Mechanics from Ohio State University in 1982. He spent his entire career at GE, and took a chair professor position at School of Mechanical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 2011. His major research field is Synthetic System Engineering. He is also a leading expert in aeromechanics, he developed the 1st generation of digital macro-aeromechanics monitor/diagnostic system in 2001, which sets the industry standard and has been broadly adopted in the aviation industry. He also developed and introduced the concept of “Engine System Dynamics”, to synergize aeromechanics with other engine design disciplines. Prof. Wang is considered a pioneer and leading expert in cross-function & multi-disciplinary system engineering of aviation industry. In the past decade, He has developed the big data infrastructure and digitalization process for commercial aero engines, as well as synthesis of intelligent design, manufacture, and life management. His work in this area sets the foundation for the cutting-edge technologies, such as PHM, CPS, and AI of aviation industry.
