报告摘要: The UCL Advanced X-Ray Imaging Group was founded approximately 15 years ago, in correspondence with the development of the "edge-illumination" method that allows implementing x-ray phase contrast imaging (XPCI) with conventional x-ray sources. One of the most promising applications of XPCI is in security and luggage inspection. XPCI extends the range of contrasts available to the decision-maker beyond what is achievable with conventional x-rays systems. This talk will introduce the basics of the “edge-illumination” method and review the research conducted at UCL on XPCI security. 报告人简介: Dr Alberto Astolfo graduated in Nuclear Physics at University of Trieste, Italy. During his studies and his PhD, he extensively worked at the Italian synchrotron Elettra, where he deepened his knowledge about x-ray and phase contrast imaging. He later lived and worked in Melbourne, Australia and Villigen, Switzerland as Postdoctoral Fellow continuing his work in synchrotron radiation x-ray imaging. Since 2015, he has been with University College London (UCL), United Kingdom, where he started working on x-ray phase contrast using conventional sources. At UCL, he contributed substantially to the several security projects and is now the Research Laboratories Manager at the Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering department. “论坛”主请人联系方式: 王振天:wangzhentian@tsinghua.edu.cn
