Prof. Stephan Jefferis简历
Director Environmental Geotechnics Ltd and Professor in Civil Engineering University of Surrey
Professor Jefferis’ experience is focused on the investigation and resolution of unusual materials and environmental problems typically associated with contaminated land, waste legacies, and natural chemical and microbiological processes in the ground. For the past thirty-five years he has worked between academia and industry. He is director of Environmental Geotechnics Ltd and Chairman of Cybersense Biosystems Ltd (experts in field testing of contaminated land) and has research links with the Universities of Surrey, Cardiff and Oxford.
For many years in parallel to technical research/consulting he has worked on issues of sustainability. These present major challenges to civil engineers – social impacts, raw material and energy use, waste and much else. However, where there are challenges are also opportunities.
He is regularly involved with national and international committees including those of the Construction Industry Research and Information Association, the British Standards Institution and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council – he is currently involved with their sustainable urban environment research programme. He maintains a regular dialogue with the UK Environment Agency and has served on several steering groups for them and also authored and reviewed reports for them. Currently he is acting as an international reviewer for projects for the Environmental Protection Agency of Victoria, Australia, the US Corps of Engineers and the US National Academies of Sciences.
Author of over 100 technical papers. Regularly invited to speak at national and international events and to join conference organising committees. |
