Dr. D. Peter Loucks obtained a Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1965and afterward joined the faculty of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Cornell University.
He teaches and directs research in the development and application of economics, ecology and systems analysis methods to the solution of environmental and regional water resources problems.
Loucks has been a Research Fellow at Harvard University; an Economist at the Development Research Center of the World Bank; a Research Scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis; and a Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Colorado, the University of Adelaide in South Australia, the Aachen University of Technology in Germany, the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands, and the University of Texas. He has served as a consultant to the United Nations, the World Bank, and NATO on regional water resources development in Asia, Australia, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. He was elected to the US National Academy of Engineering in 1989 and retired as Captain from the Navy Reserve in 1992.
