内容简介:
Since 2001 the Digital Silk Roads (DSR) project was started in the National Institute of Informatics of Japan. In this talk, he will introduce the background of DSR project and its approach, features of technology and human science, typical achievements, international collaborative research, international symposium on DSR, etc. In addition, he will introduce a platform: ASPICO, which is constructed based on the digital archive of historical cultural heritage for network collaboration.

报告人简介:
He received BS in Physics from the University of Tokyo, MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and Dr. of Engineering from the University of Tokyo. After serving as Director of Research Laboratories of KDD, he was assigned as Professor at NACSIS in 1993. In April 2000, NACSIS was reorganized to the National Institute of Informatics (NII) where he served as Professor and Executive Director for Research. He started Digital Silk Roads project in 2001, and served as Co-Executive Director for Digital Silk Roads Initiative Framework (DSRIF) under the NOU between NII and UNESCO.
He served Vice Chairman of TSAG (Telecommunication Standard Advisory Group) of ITU (International Telecommunication Union), Program Chairman of ICCC'99, Chairman of the Tokyo and Nara Symposium for Digital Silk Roads co-sponsored by UNESCO and NII. He received the Purple Ribbon Medal in 2002. He is a Life Fellow of IEEE.
