Yi Zhang Vice Provost, THU Professor, Automation, THU
Biography Yi Zhang, Professor of Control Science and Engineering in the Department of Automation and Vice Provost for International Affairs, Tsinghua University. He received his B.S. and Master Degrees at Tsinghua University in 1986 and 1988 respectively, and Ph.D at UK in 1995.
His research interesting includes the complex system modeling and analysis for traffic control systems, urban traffic control, management, simulation and analysis, information management and fusion based on wide area networks, advanced control theory and technology, and advanced detection technology and instrumentation. Up to now, as a principal investigator, he has finished more than 20 research projects financed by the National Basic Research Program of China, Hi-Tech Research and Development Program of China, NSFC, MOST and local governments and published more than 100 academic papers.
Prof. ZHANG also serves as the Specialist in ITS to Hi-Tech Research and Development Program of China, the member of Advisory Committee of ITS for MOST, the member of Association for China ITS, the Vice Chairman of Intelligent Transportation Committee for Association of Chinese Artificial and Intelligence, and the Director of IEEE ITS Beijing Section.

Biography Professor Timothy V. Larson is the chair of Department of Civil and Environment Engineering, University of Washington. He is an expert on air quality measurement and control, he has been the director and participated lots of research projects in this filed sponsored by. NSF, NIH, Environment Protection Agency, etc.

He has finished more than 30 research projects financed by NSFC, World Bank, SEPA, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ford and GM and published more than 130 academic papers.
Prof. He has been a senior visiting scholar in Technical University of Denmark, Leeds University in UK, and Harvard University in US. Dr. He also serves as the member of International Committee on Clean Transportation (ICCT), the member of Council for China Energy Research Society, the member of Council for Chinese Research Society on Sustainable Development, the Senior Member of China Society of Environmental Science, the Member of the Air & Waste Management Association in USA, and the Member of the Society of Automotive Engineering in USA.
Huapu Lu Director, Research Institute of Transportation Engineering, THU Professor, Civil Engineering, THU
Biography Huapu Lu, Professor of Civil Engineering Departement and the Chief of Institute of Transportation Engineering, Tsinghua University. He is an expert on transportation planning, traffic assignment, Intelligent Transportation Systems.
Professor Lu directed and participated lots of research projects sponsored by the Hi-Tech R&D Program of China, Science and Technology Department of China and the Beijing Government. He has published more than 100 papers on international journals, got 9 patents.
Now he serves as the editor of International Journal of ITS Research, vice chair of the Straightway Program sponsored by Police Department and Construction Department of China, also as the transportation consultant of the Beijing Government.
George S. Rutherford Professor, Civil and Envi- ronmental Engineering, UW
Biography Professor George S. Rutherford is an expert on transportation engineering, also the director of TRANSPEED Education Outreach Program, University of Washington. Professor Rutherford has deep accomplishment on transportation management and information technology application in transportation. He has been directed and participated tens of research projects sponsored by FHWA, transportation department of Washington State, completed tens of project reports, and published more than 30 papers on “Transportation Research Board”.
He has served as the chair (2002-2006), acting chair (2001-2002) and director of Graduate Studies (2000-2003) of Department of Civil and Environment Engineering, University of Washington, also as director of Transportation Innovations Unit at Washington State Transportation Commission (1990-1995), director of Washington State Transportation Center (1983-1990), research director of Washington State Department of Transportation (1983-1987), Director, Northwest Technology Transfer Center (1983-1986).
Peter M. Briglia Director, Transportation Northwest, Seattle
Biography Pete holds BSCE and MS Env.E degrees, and is a registered professional engineer in Washington. He has worked as a traffic and transportation engineer for 26 years; serving approximately 23 of those years as the Northwest Region Freeway Operations Engineer for the Washington State DOT, and 13 of those years as the ITS Program Manager for Washington state.
Pete comes to TransNow from the Puget Sound Regional Council where he spent 9 months as a principal planner working on ITS planning and coordinating regional operations. He served on the TRB Committee on Freeway Operations for 15 years and was Committee Chair for 6 years.
Yinhai Wang Associate Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering, UW
Biography Yinhai Wang is an expert on intelligent transportation information processing, now he is an associate professor of Department of Civil and Environment Engineering, University of Washington.
He has directed and participated about 30 research projects sponsored by FHWA and transportation department of Washington State; published more than 30 papers on transportation international journals, participated several committees of TRB. He is also the vice president of the Tsinghua Alumni Association in the Greater Seattle Area, he keeps tight contact with the professors from Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Automation, Tsinghua University. He was invited to Tsinghua for lectures for 2 weeks in summer, 2004.
Wang received the Best Paper Award of Journal of Transportation Engineering (2003), Excellent Presentation Award at 51st Annual Conference of Japan Society of Civil Engineers (2006), Distinguished Teaching Award for Young Faculty at Tsinghua University (1993,1994).
