摘要: As someone who went to graduate school in U.S. right from receiving a B.S. degree from Tsinghua, I would like to share in this informal talk my personal experience as an international student, a physicist and also a professor on how one can pursue her/his interest and be successful, and also be successful in mentoring students in a foreign country.
高海燕简历: Haiyan Gao received her B.S. degree from the Department of Modern Applied Physics in 1989 at Tsinghua University and her Ph.D. degree from the California Institute of Technology in 1994 in experimental nuclear physics. She was on the staff at the Argonne National Laboratory (1996-1997) and on the faculty at MIT (1997-2002) before she joined the faculty in the Physics Department at Duke University in 2002. Currently, she is a full professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Physics at Duke University. She received a number of awards including her recent election of a Fellow of the American Physical Society. |
