报告简介: "Services Computing" has been recognized by the IEEE-Computer Society as a new computer science discipline, and is an integral theme of the growing multi-disciplinary research and academic effort in Service Science, Management, Engineering and Design (SSMED). We like to take this opportunity to introduce some service-oriented research activities in IBM Watson Research Center. We would also like to share our hard-learnt hand-on experiences, exchange research ideas with the colleagues and peers in China, and seek the potential opportunities for collaboration.
In IBM Research, Services related research projects are aligned with the IBM services business model. The services are divided to two categories: Business Services and IT Services. Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architectural style for solution architects to create and manage new value added solutions by leveraging various solution artifacts such as business processes, services, packaged applications, and manageable attributes throughout their lifecycle. Dr. Zhou will give an overview of SOA modeling and an architecture modeling environment (SOMA-ME). SOMA-ME is an end-to-end SOA solution design framework that supports the model-driven design of SOA solutions using the SOMA method. Also there will be a discussion of how to move towards rigorous mathematical modeling. Dr. Perng will discuss a IT Services Research theme BISE (Business-Aligned IT Services Environment). BISE is a family of projects aims to discover, analyze, model and configure IT Services for Business process alignment. Ongoing BISE projects include PARA-medic SOA Health check, Business of IT Dashboard, Event Management and Monitoring and Relationship Discovery Workbench.
报告人简介: Dr. Charles Perng is a research staff member in IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. He received his Ph.D. degree in computer science in 2000 from the University of California, Los Angeles, and has been at IBM since then. In IBM Research, Dr. Perng has been focused in temporal data mining research. He has organized serval ACM SIGKDD and IEEE ICDM Workshops on Temporal Data Mining, he was also a guest editor of the Temporal Data Mining Special Issue of Springer Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery Journal. In IBM, Dr. Perng has persistently working on Event Management and Monitoring Design which is a cornerstone of IBM's IT Services Management Portfolio. He has developed algorithms and tools that apply data mining technology to system and service management. His current research interests include temporal data mining, autonomic computing and intelligent system management design. He is an IBM Master Inventor.
Dr. Zhou, Nianjun is a research staff member in IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. Dr. Nianjun Zhou has been working in IBM since 1997. Before joining research, he led the efforts of grid computing including server grid and client grid in IBM CIO. Before joining IBM, he has been a research scientist of New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Dr. Zhou received his Ph.D from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) focusing on Ad Hoc/Sensor network routing overhead for variable topology network. His interesting is using computer methodologies and technologies to innovate new ideas, develop new infrastructure and applications which enhance the computing resources utilities, efficiency of knowledge and information management. He has published in various papers in IEEE conferences, and IEEE Transactions. He has applied more than thirty patents.
