  简介:

This course will survey current experimental and computational approaches to the study of gene expression and gene regulation. We will discuss microarray based and sequencing based methods for the measurement of gene expressions and transcription factor binding locations. Statistical and computational methods for the analysis of these data sets will be reviewed. We will illustrate the techniques by examining their applications to several areas in mammalian development.

First Lecture:           Gene expression analysis (1)

Second Lecture:       Gene expression analysis (2)

Third Lecture:          Analysis of cis-regulatory signals (1)

Fourth Lecture:        Analysis of cis-regulatory signals (2)

Fifth Lecture:            Combined analysis of expression and location data

Sixth Lecture:           Single cell analysis

 

Bio. for the speaker:

Dr. Wing Hung Wong received his Bachelor degree in Mathematics from University of California - Berkeley in 1976 and PhD. degree in Statistic from University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1980. After that, he worked as an assistant professor, and later a full professor in University of Chicago, Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of California - Los Angeles and Harvard University. Now he is a professor of Statistics in Stanford University, and a member of the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Chair Professor Team of Tsinghua University. He received the Guggenheim Fellowship in 1987 and COPSS Award in 1993. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, a Neyman Lecture of Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and Bahadur Lecture of University of Chicago.

 Wing’s lab develops methods and software for the analysis of the data from high throughput genomics projects. He develops and enhances tools in exploratory data analysis, multivariate analysis, information theory, machine learning, Monte Carlo, graph theory, linear and nonlinear differential equations, and applies them to problems in computational biology and systems biology. Of particular interest is the combined use of experimental and computational analysis to clarify cis-regulatory mechanisms underlying several developmental processes.
