报告摘要:The world is made of two types of elementary particles: the Spin-1 Force Particles (such as photons) and the Spin-1/2 Matter Particles (such as quarks that compose the neclei, and electrons that make the atoms neutral and determine the condense matter physics and chemistry etc). Furthermore, the world must be supported by a Nontrivial Vacuum that could be the Origin of Mass Generation for ALL Elementary Particles (including the Dark Matter) and the Origin of the Dark Energy of the Universe, as observed today.
Y. Nambu's work (Nobel Prize 2008) hinted that the Physical Vacuum could be the source of mass generation via Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking. However, this is very far from end of the story: the True Mechanism for the Mass Generation of ALL Elementary Particles (including the Dark Matter) and the True Mechanism for Dark Energy remain fully unjustified till this day, awaiting for decisive Experimental Discoveries.
In this Overview, I will explain to you the following exciting questions:
(1) Where is the CERN LHC? How is it going now? What is it for? (2) Why does the World Scientific Society expect a Revolution upcoming from the LHC ? Why would such a revolution open the New Era of Physics ? (3) What is the "God Particle"? What is Physical Vacuum? What are the Origin and Scales of Masses for All Elementary Particles in the Universe? (4) Why do I think "God Particle" may NOT exist at all? How do I justify a "New God Particle" can arise from the Compactified 5th Dimension? How can it be discovered at the LHC? (5) Why do not we understand the Origin of Parity Violation [Nobel Prize 1957] after more than 50 years of its discovery? Why do I believe there is a deep connection of Spontaneous Parity Violation with the Mass Generation of ALL Elementary Particles? How could we probe the Origin of Parity Violation at LHC? (6) Why is the LHC a perfect marriage between Physics and Engineering? Why is the LHC a unity of Experiment and Theory? Why is the LHC a unity of Experimentalists and Theorists? (7) Lesson for the LHC? Lesson for us? Lesson for China: Should China compete for hosting the International Linear Collider (ILC) that could complement CERN LHC (despite its high cost)??
