Our recent research has shown that electronic, optical, and magnetic responses can be integrated based on both inter-molecular and intra-molecular excited states in organic semiconducting materials[i]. The integration of electronic, optical, and magnetic responses has two fundamental impacts. First, the integration of electronic, optical, and magnetic responses opens a new research area: organic spintronics where three primary electronic, optical, and magnetic properties can be mutually controlled in organic energy-conversion materials[ii]. Second, the integration of electronic, optical, and magnetic responses provides powerful experimental tools to reveal internal energy-conversion gain and loss processes in organic materials[iii]. This seminar will present our recent research progress in integrating electronic, optical, and magnetic responses for the development of organic spintronics and in controlling gain and loss processes in organic photovoltaic, thermoelectric, and light-emitting materials by using organic spintronics.
