We will start with an introduction of Intel in China with focus on its R&D organization in Zizhu, Shanghai.  The main part of the talk is on clouding computing.  Cloud computing has got a lot attention recently.  In this seminar, we will describe our view of what cloud computing is; explain the fundamental technologies behind cloud computing – computing, networking, storage, and management; illustrate potential benefit in functionality, reliability, convenience, and cost.  We will elucidate potential technical research and business innovation.  We will end the seminar on sharing our view on how to get most out of college education to best prepare one for the rest of one’s life.

演讲人简介

杨诚博士在威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校获得计算机专业博士学位，现任英特尔(Intel)亚太研发有限公司首席研发官，此前在IBM就职。曾获得两次IBM杰出科技成就奖，并被授予IBM发明大师（Master Inventor）称号。杨 诚博士在系统性能，数据库和存储系统方面为世界著名专家。他的团队曾创造了一个业界基准系统性能的世界纪录。

在学术领域，杨 诚博士也同样取得了突出成就。他在多家学术期刊和学术会议上先后发表过40多篇论文，其中包括一篇最佳论文和一篇特约论文，同时拥有17项美国专利。他曾担任“并行与分布信息系统（PDIS）”大会行业规划委员会主席，两次在国际顶尖学术会议中讲授课程，并先后十次担任国际一流学术会议内容程序委员会委员。
