主讲人简介：
Deborah Seligsohn博士是世界资源研究所气候、能源及污染项目的高级顾问，Seligsohn博士重点关注深化合作研究，以及开发有效政策工具，用以解决气候变化问题。她在世界资源研究所工作之前曾就职美国国务院，并在中国、印度、尼泊尔、新西兰等国的能源环境问题方面已经开展20余年的研究工作。Seligsohn博士近期担任北京环境、科学、技术和卫生方面的顾问。 Deborah Seligsohn博士在普林斯顿大学伍德罗威尔逊学院获得科学、技术和环境政策硕士学位，在哈佛大学东亚研究大学获得文学学士学位。此外，Deborah Seligsohn还会讲一口流利的中文和北印度文。 Deborah Seligsohn is the Senior Advisor to the World Resources Institute’s Climate, Energy and Pollution Program, and she also blogs at www.ChinaFAQs.org. Her focus is on deepening research collaboration and the development of useful policy tools to address climate change issues. She comes to WRI from the U.S. State Department, where she had over 20 years’experience working on energy and environment issues in China, India, Nepal and New Zealand. Her most recent position was as Environment, Science, Technology and Health Counselor on Beijing. She has a master’s degree from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School in Science, Technology and Environmental Policy, and her BA is from Harvard University in East Asian Studies. She speaks fluent Chinese and some Hindi.
讲座内容简介：
目前，美国和中国将每年承担全球温室气体减排40%的任务，这两个积极参减排的国家必须共同面临和解决全球气候危机。双方的合作具有极大的互补性，两国可以共同开发、设计和商业化运作新技术，共同制定相应对策。中美合作也将是一个能够设计出更好的方法来解决气候变化问题，以及满足发展中国家需要的重要途径。然而，双方的合作同样也还会带来一些挑战，但是，经过双方的努力，仍然有望使两国取得更好的沟通与理解，例如对公平和透明度方面的关注，这一问题在气候危机中显得尤为重要。 关于气候变化问题，各国已经在哥本哈根会议上进行了有效的讨论和推进，但是仍然存在很多迫在眉睫的问题，需要各国继续付出不懈努力，当然也同样需要中美两个大国同心协力。
Together the US and China are responsible for about 40% of global annual greenhouse gas emissions. The active participation of these two countries is essential to address the global climate crisis. Cooperation provides enormous opportunities for omplementarity and joint cooperation.The two countries can work together to develop, build and commercialize new technologies and to develop approaches that encourage the use of the best existing technologies. Their partnership is also essential for designing the best approaches to adapting to climate change and supporting the needs of the developing world. The partnership also poses challenges, and these are exacerbated by gaps in understanding. Efforts on both sides to communicate better and to understand the concerns of each side, for example,about equity and transparency, will be crucial to actually moving forward on this crisis. The climate crisis is already urgent. We began to move forward at Copenhagen, but there is much more that urgently needs to be done. It will require both China and the US to get us there.
