Elastin-like polypeptides (ELPs) are biopolymers of the pentapeptide repeat Val-Pro-Gly-Xaa-Gly that undergo an inverse temperature phase transition. They are soluble in aqueous solutions below their transition temperature (Tt) but hydrophobically collapse and aggregate at temperatures greater than Tt. Purification process can be efficiently simplified by treating fusion protein constituted by target protein and ELP.

Bio-ink is a material made from living cells which behaves much like aiquid, allowing people to essentially print it in order to create a desired shape.Based by microgel, bioinks can be printed on paper to produce “bioactive paper”.Dr. Filipe will conclude his presentation with a brief discussion of an idea that hehas been thinking about regarding the existence of a second layer of coding inDNA molecules, in addition to specifying the sequence of amino-acids in proteins.
