Bio:
Victor Nee is a Goldwin Smith Professor of Sociology at Cornell University, as well as Director of the Center for the Study of Economy and Society. His main research interests are in Economic Sociology, Immigration/Ethnic Stratification, Market Transition/New Capitalism, and Comparative Institutional Analysis.
Professor Nee is the first and a leading sociologist to study market transition and institutional transformation. His 1989 article, “A Theory of Market Transition," published in American Sociological Review, had led the market transition debate in sociology and economics since the 1990s. Professor Nee has published many articles in top academic journals including American Economic Review, American Journal of Sociology, and American Sociological Review, in addition to many books and book chapters.
Currently, Professor Nee is leading a multi-year study of the emergence of private entrepreneurship and institutional change in China. From a perspective of institutional analysis, Professor Nee seeks to understand the relationship between formal and informal processes in institutional transformation.
Victor Nee教授是康奈尔大学Goldwin Smith社会学教授,经济与社会研究中心主任。主要研究领域包括:经济社会学、移民/种族分层、市场转型、比较制度分析。倪教授是第一位研究市场转型和制度变革的社会学家,也一直是该领域研究的领袖人物。其1989年发表于《美国社会学评论》对中国市场转型经验研究的论文,在上世纪90年代社会学和经济学界引发了著名的关于前社会主义国家市场转型的理论争论。倪教授曾出版多部学术专著,并在《美国经济学评论》、《美国社会学期刊》、《美国社会学评论》等顶级学术刊物发表了大量学术论文。目前,倪教授正领导一项关于中国的企业家精神、私营经济发展与制度转型的研究课题,该课题研究制度变革过程中的正式与非正式过程及其互动关系,并藉此解释中国自下而上的制度转型与经济发展模式。本演讲将主要基于该研究课题的部分研究成果。
