报告的摘要:
Recent investigations of the research on the micro-optics of super-spherical glass are presented. Micrometer-size glass optics has high potential to cause fascinating phenomena like the formation of optical nearfield and the strong interaction between photon and materials. Surface-tension Mold (StM) technique developed in our laboratory enables us to fabricate glass microballs with high sphericity quite easily. When the glass ball has the super-spherical shape, it can work as the evanescent field lens, “Solid immersion lens”, which enables the observation of nanometer-structures much smaller than the wavelength of light. Dimension of the supersphere lens should be precise with the error less than 200nm, but StM technique for the glass with the appropriate composition can give an ideal superspherical shape. Super-spherical glass can also be utilized as an optical cavity, in which photons are encapsulated efficiently, and resonant light is emitted as ”laser” light. Doping of active ions into the glass shows the lasing at various wavelength regions. In this seminar, some details on the basics research of µ-SSG are presented.
