Bio of the Speaker:
John Gale has been associated with the energy industry for some 30 years. After graduating he began his career with the British Coal Corporation then after its privatization he worked in the energy and environmental consulting sector for several years, He joined the IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D Programme (IEAGHG) in 1999 as a project manager and managed the Programmes activities on Non -CO2 greenhouse gases, greenhouse gas abatement in energy intensive industries and geological storage of CO2. He became General Manager in 2008. As General Manager he is responsible for the financial/organizational management of the programme and the interaction with its membership. He has also been the main IEAHGHG officer responsible for the operation a of the GHGT conference series and has sat on both the Organizing Committee and Programme committee for each conference in the series held since 2000.
In addition to IEA GHG’s activities: he was one of the co-coordinating lead authors on the 2005 IPCC Special Report on CO2 Capture and Storage, he is currently Editor-in -Chief of the International Journal on Greenhouse Gas Control. He has worked on a number of expert groups; he was a member of the FutureGen underground review panel and is currently acting as an independent expert advisor to the UK Government on the CCS competition. In addition, he is currently a member of the GCCSI’s Technical Advisory Committee and is Chair of the International Advisory Panel for the Dutch national CCS R&D programme (CATO-2) |
