  简介:
Microencapsulation is the process entrapping living cells within the confines of a semipermeable membrane or a homogenous solid mass. Our lab has developed a collagen microencapsulation technology, which provides a platform to reconstitute collagen fiber meshwork for cell entrapment. Applications in (1) mesenchymal stem cell-based cartilage tissue engineering; (2) HEK293-based therapeutic protein (GDNF) delivery; and (3) stem cell niche (extracellular and mechanical) studies will be discussed.
