        In this talk, I will introduce some frequently used methods in dealing with many-body problems, with the hope that physicists working in atomic physics and optics find them interesting and useful. For the purpose of illustration, I take the Hubbard model as an example to discuss (i) canonical transformation; (ii) Bethe Ansatz; (iii) Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation; (iv) exact diagonalization; and (v) Monte Carlo simulation. I will also mention their limitations and improvements briefly.
