Dr. Lilley is the Professor of Molecular Biology, University of Dundee and the director of CR-UK Nucleic Acid Structure Research Group.
EDUCATION
1966-1969 B.Sc in Chemistry, University of Durham - 1st class honours.
1969-1972 Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, University of Durham, England.
Supervisor: Professor DT Clark.
1972-1973 M.Sc, in Biochemistry, Imperial College, University of London
M.Sc. passed with distinction, and awarded the Ewart Stickings Memorial Prize for Excellence in Biochemistry.
HONOURS
1982 20th Colworth Medal winner. Annual award by the Biochemical Society to a British Biochemist under the age of 35 for 'work of outstanding merit'.
1984 Elected a Member of the European Molecular Biology Organisation.
1988 Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
1989 Awarded Personal Chair in Molecular Biology
1993 Appointed Director, CRC Nucleic Acid Structure Research Group
1994 Awarded Gold Medal of G.J. Mendel In Biological Sciences by the Czech Academy of Sciences.
1996 Prelog Vorlesung and Gold Medal in Stereochemistry by the Laboratorium für Organische Chemie at the ETH, Zürich.
2001 Royal Society of Chemistry Award in RNA and Ribozyme Chemistry.
2002 Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society.
2003 Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
2006 Royal Society of Chemistry Interdisciplinary Award.
Prof. Dr. Lilley has authored and co-authored over 300 research articles in many excellent international magazines such as Science, Nature, EMBO J. and so on. He also served in editorial departments of many magazines including Nucleic Acids Research, Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, RNA, Journal of Fluorescence…
