摘要:Symmetry is an essential concept for understanding physical laws. Three discrete symmetries, P (space reflection) C (charge conjugation) and T (time reversal) play particularly important roles in elementary particle physics. Furthermore, violation of CP symmetry is one of the three necessary conditions to explain the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry in our universe. In this lecture series, formalism of CP violation in elementary particle physics is described after a brief introduction of C, P and T. Experimental results on CP violation and rare decays in the kaon and B-meson systems are interpreted in the framework of the quark flavour properties of the Standard Model. Experimental prospects of quark flavour physics in the LHC era are then discussed, as a possible window for observing physics beyond the Standard Model. |
