  简介:

Grid and P2P computing is emerging as one of the most promising technologies that may change the world. In this talk, Dr. Hwang presents recent advances in distributed computing and network security issues and solutions. The talk covers the integration of web services with P2P Grid computing, new cybertrust models, worm containment, and self-defense software architecture to protect Grid resources from DDoS attacks or malicious intrusions. The GridSEc project at USC will be presented for automated trust management system to facilitate authentication, authorization, security binding, automated intrusion detection and response in computing Grids and peer-to-peer web services.

In this talk, Dr. Hwang will address several frontier research areas: fast reputation aggregation for trusted P2P transactions on the Internet,  trusted Grid job scheduling, game-theoretic modeling of selfish and non-cooperative Grid sites, new Grid performance metrics, and DETER experiments for cybertrust management. The fortified P2P Grid infrastructure benefits security-sensitive applications in digital government, electronic commerce, and distance education, etc.

Biographical Sketch:

Kai Hwang is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Director of Internet and Grid Computing Laboratory at USC. He received the Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing. An IEEE Fellow, Dr. Hwang has received numerous research grants and achievement awards, including the K. S. Fu Award in 2004 from China Computer Federation. He has also lectured worldwide and performed advisory work for IBM, JPL, MIT Lincoln, Intel SSD, ETL in Japan, and GMD in Germany.

Dr. Hwang has published over 200 scientific papers and 7 books. His latest books, Scalable Parallel Computing (McGraw-Hill, 1998) and Advanced Computer Architecture (McGraw-Hill 1993), are used worldwide. Presently, he leads a NSF-sponsored ITR Project at USC on Grid security for distributed supercomputing. The ultimate goal is to develop reliable, trustworthy, and highly available Grid resources for pervasive, peer-to-peer, and Grid computing. Visit the GridSec Project website:  http://GridSec.usc.edu/ for details.
