摘要:

In this presentation a robust non-linear finite element procedure

is presented for three-dimensional modelling of reinforced concrete structures

under fire conditions. The model described is the theoretical basis of the

computer program, Vulcan, developed at the University of Sheffield during the

recent years. In this model, a reinforced concrete building is modelled as an

assembly of finite beam-column and slab elements. Because of the changes in

material properties and the large deflections experienced in fire, both

geometric and material non-linearities are taken into account in this

formulation. The more complicated aspects of structural behaviour in fire

conditions, such as thermal expansion, transient strains in the concrete,

cracking or crushing of concrete, yielding of steel and change of material

properties with temperature are modelled. Also the effects of concrete spalling

on the fire resistance of concrete structures are considered in the model.

 

 主讲人简介:

Dr Zhaohui Huang graduated with a BEng in Forest Products

Engineering from the Fujian Forestry College, China in 1982 and worked for eight

years as an Assistant Lecturer and Lecturer in Timber Structures before coming

to the UK. He received his PhD from the University of Central Lancashire in

1995. He joined the University of Sheffield in 1996 initially as Research

Associate in Structural Fire Research Group and subsequently as a Lecturer in

Structural Engineering. During his research in Sheffield Dr Huang has made a

major contribution to the development of the computer program, Vulcan, for

three-dimensional analysis of the structural behaviour of steel, concrete and

composite steel-framed buildings in fire. The software won two of the “British

Computer Society's Annual Awards” in 2005. Currently some leading design

companies in the UK, such as Arup and Buro Happold are using the program for

real structural fire safety design. Dr Huang was awarded the "ASCE 2005 Raymond

C. Reese Research Prize" by the American Society of Civil Engineers. His first

EPSRC project of modelling of concrete slabs and their influence on steel and

composite building frames in fire was awarded the top grade.
