  简介:

Abstract:

DNA is used by Mother Nature as the material to store genetic information for living organisms because of its chemical simplicity and stability. Insofar as we know, double-stranded DNA does not have the structural intricacy necessary for binding or catalytic function. However, when liberated from the helical structure confinement, single-stranded DNA is capable of forming complex tertiary structures and performing protein-like functions. In this presentation, I will discuss our work on DNA enzymes and DNA aptamers, two related classes of DNA molecules that have great potential for applications in chemistry, biology and medicine.
